Description:

One of the most famous dinosaurs of all time alongside the mighty T. rex, the Triceratops, meaning "Three horned face", lived in what is now North America, in the USA Country. This large ceratopsian was one of the most well developed animals of its lineage, managing to thrive in the same environment as the Tyrannosaurus rex.

One of the very first species cloned by Ingen in the late 80s, this particular breed, the Clouded Triceratops named after its cloudy-like patterning on the body, was introduced both in Isla Sorna and Nublar. Intended to be part of the Jurassic Park attractions. During a endorsement visit at the Park in 1993, the Drs. Grant, Sattler and Malcolm, alongside Donald Gennaro and Tim & Lex Murphy, managed to witness a female individual inside her paddock.

During the Ingen Capture events in 1997, two individuals could be seen captured inside the Ingen Camp site on Isla Sorna. Eventually, Sarah Harding and Nick Van Owen set them free, the adult could be seen attacking the various vehicles and tents nearby. The adult seen on Isla Sorna was significantly larger than the Nublar female, which may indicate Sexual Dimorphism alongside their color differences, although that is not confirmed whatsoever.

Size Estimates:

Male: Aprox. 3m Tall 7.4m Long
Female: 2.5m Tall 6m Long

Did you know?

It is argued whether or not the Triceratops was the very first Dinosaur cloned by John Hammond, some medias such as Jurassic Park: Trespasser implying it was an Albertosaurus instead.

Habitat & Geographical Ranging:

Restricted to the Islands of Isla Nublar and Isla Sorna, the Clouded Triceratops can be seen primarily living in open fields with a good amount of grass and ground vegetation to feed on. At Isla Sorna, they likely lived by the temperate forests of the Island alongside other animals such as Stegosaurus and Parasaurolophus.

The breed was last seen in 1997 at Isla Sorna, since then, there's been no signs of it still inhabiting those Islands, or anywhere else in the Mainland, the conservation status of the breed is unknown.

Individual Variation:

Two morphological variations can be noticed with the Clouded Triceratops, which may or may not indicate Sexual Dimorphism. The Females sport tones of blue across their body, with a light belly, dark steel blue and a mottled cyan highlight over its face and torso, while having light toned horns, beak and osteoderms.

The possible Male observed on Isla Sorna however, presents the same patterning but in tones of greyish, closer to brown, earthy tones. Due it appearing briefly, it's hard to conclude its true colors, it is certain however, that this individual was significantly larger than the Female seen in 1993.
