Description:

"Carnivore, pack hunter, about two meters tall, long snout, binocular vision, strong dexterous forearms, and killing claws on both feet."
Robert Burke's description of Velociraptor during InGen's expedition on Isla Sorna in 1997 is an apt summary of this stunning predator. Velociraptor is a dromaeosaurid that once inhabited the arid Flaming Cliffs of what is now China and Mongolia during the Late Cretaceous. It was an agile biped capable of rapid sprints.

According to the fossil record, Velociraptor was a small feathered dromaeosaur, just about reaching a human waist in height. It had a narrow snout and winged arms—evidenced by the presence of quill knobs. The Velociraptors cloned by InGen sport no feathers and reach nearly two meters in height. These clones have large grasping arms and boxy heads. A wide variety of distinct Velociraptor strains have been identified, most of which have their own unique traits and behaviors.

The Forest Velociraptor, also classified as “Tribe B”, is one of three enigmatic Velociraptor breeds that may have possibly existed on Isla Sorna at some point in the 90s. Its existence is still considered dubious, as there is very little solid evidence of their populations actually existing in the island. The Forest Velociraptors are known for their exquisite colors, tones of light beige, almost white, cover its body, followed by contrasting red splotches and markings going from its neck to the tip of its tail and limbs. Those are surrounded by a dark brown, almost black, outline that extends to its face, covering the eye orbit that has large yellow eyes with thin split pupils.

These Raptors receive their names for the typical type of environment their populations were first seen on, Coniferous Forests Southeast of Isla Sorna. It could be seen living alongside another breed of Velociraptor, the Lowland breed, or so classified “Tribe A”. The Forest Velociraptors had very low population numbers in comparison and for mysterious causes, at some point in the late 90s, their population decreased significantly. It is unclear if the breed fell into extinction or if the few survivors are now uncommon to sight.

Size Estimates:

2.1m Tall
5m Long

Did you know?

The Forest Velociraptor is the largest of the three Trespasser Raptor Tribes, with the exception of the Mountain’s Alpha.

Habitat & Geographical Ranging:

As the name suggests, the Forest Velociraptors can be found predominantly at cool Coniferous Forests of Isla Sorna, more specifically at the southeast portions of the island. Living in small populations, these Raptors would be seen nearby some facilities such as the Burroughs or the abandoned Dam and Helipads.
