Description:

With a surprisingly vicious temper and an unknown origin, the Oviraptor is a curious species recently cloned in the Jurassic Universe. It is the titular species of the Oviraptoridae family, consisting of small bird-like theropods with powerful beaks and rounded crests atop their heads. Oviraptor itself is native to the Flaming Cliffs of Mongolia during the Late Cretaceous.

Oviraptor sports white, chicken-like feathering across its body, with horizontal black stripes stretching from its neck to the based of its tail. Its face is mostly bare, consisting of black scales and rugged skin contrasted by vivid yellow eyes. Its keratinous beak is pigmented orange. Its tail features a large fan of rooster-like feathers. A tuft of feathers is present behind its head. While it lacks well-developed wings, it has a series of primitive filaments stretching behind its arms.

Oviraptor is an extremely skittish animal. Curious and impulsive, it can be startled by the slightest noise. With a fast metabolism and twitchy demeanor, it is surprisingly aggressive and willing to face other animals regardless of size. Due to this behavioral quirk, it can be seen in Malta’s underground black market in illicit dinosaur fights, which can easily lead to the Oviraptor's demise.

Did you know?

Oviraptor is currently the only dinosaur species that is genetically pure yet isn’t confirmed to be cloned by Biosyn.

Habitat & Geographical Ranging:

Native to Asia during the Late Cretaceous, Oviraptor is an arid dweller adapted to hot, dry conditions. Living specimens have only been seen in the Amber Clave Night Market in Malta’s underground. While the hot Mediterranean climate of Malta is rather suitable for Oviraptor, it is the last place any dinosaur would want to be kept. This small theropod is used in illegal fighting rings, pitched against other animals for cruel entertainment and unlawful gambling with no regard for their welfare.
