Description:
The largest member of the Ankylosauridae family, Ankylosaurus is a robust quadrupedal armored herbivore dinosaur first seen in 2001 on Isla Sorna. Like other Ankylosaurids, the Ankylosaurus has a wide dorsum lined with keratinized spikes and osteoderms from head to tail, The end of its muscular tail forms a unique club made of solid bone and keratin.
This particular breed of Ankylosaurus has a unique set of traits that differentiates it from its larger counterpart. Perhaps most notably is its characteristic red face. Unlike the Greater Ankylosaurus, the Red-Headed Ankylosaurus does not have segmented keratin plates and instead has large black scales covering its backside. These scutes have a faint green sheen to them. Additionally, the Red-Headed Ankylosaur has an ovoid tail club rather than a clover shaped club. A horizontal ow of large, striped keratin spikes eject outward from its sides. Its body is predominately composed of leathery tan skin with purplish markings.
This breed of Ankylosaurus can be seen living nearby other herbivore dinosaurs such as Brachiosaurus and Parasaurolophus on Isla Sorna, Although not highly social animals, these Ankylosaurs can be seen in isolated groups of no more than 4 individuals. In fact, the Red-Headed Ankylosaurus has only been documented grazing in pairs, possibly implying a monogamous lifestyle.
Size Estimates:
2.7m Tall
8.5m Long

While Paul and Amanda Kirby reminisce their past up in the trees, Red-Headed Ankylosaurus vocalizations can be heard in the background which resemble the calls of a Red Stag!
Habitat & Geographical Ranging:
This Ankylosaurus breed was first and only seen in 2001 during Dr. Grant's visit to Isla Sorna, it's unclear if this breed was ever cloned or transported to another Island or to the Mainland.
Red-Headed Ankylosaurs can be seen grazing by the riverbanks of Isla Sorna in pairs while in the vicinity of other herbivores, but are seen on their own within the dense jungles. It can be assumed that, like its larger counterpart, these Ankylosaurs prefer inhabiting the hot tropical regions of Sorna, traversing the dense forests in order to feed on ground foliage.
Individual Variation:
This breed of Ankylosaurus features no known variation.
