Species:

Karacosis wutansis

Common Name:

Wu Flower

Family:

Orchidaceae

Seen in:

• Jurassic World Websites (2015)

Description:

The Karacosis wutansis, or simply Wu Flower, is a plant taxon genetically engineered by Dr. Henry Wu back in 1997. The plant is the very first hybrid organism developed by Wu, and was a landmark for the scientist's carreer.

Although the exact Genetic Makeup of the Wu Flower is unknown, some specimens can be guessed out of current information and images of the Plant's base genomes. Those being an Indeterminate Orchid of Cattleya Genus (Cattleya sp.), "Blue" Orchid, which is also known as Moth Orchid (Phalaenopsis sp.) and some Unidentified Yellow Flowering plant.

Did you know?

The Wu Flower was first mentioned back in 2015 at the Masrani Global website, but it was only 7 years later that we would get an official look at the plant at Jurassic World Adventure in Beijing.

Habitat & Geographical Ranging:

The Wu Flower was first and (so far) only cloned in Costa Rica, at an InGen Facility in San José. With that in mind, it's quite possible the Flower was restricted to the Costa Rican Facility. With no mentions or signs of the Plant being used at Jurassic World, although that doesn't take away from the possibility that the Wu Flower may have been present in Jurassic World's Botanical Gardens.

With no solid information regarding the plant's preferable habitat conditions, only the assumption that the Wu Flower was engineered for the tropical environments of Costa Rica can be considered.
