Alongside Diplodocus, Apatosaurus was part of the family Diplodocidae, that was entirely cut out from the game.
It's presumed that Apatosaurus and Diplodocus were both cut in favor of keeping less species, and due the possible better known Camarasaurus and Brachiosaurus.
Apatosaurus had a bad luck of being mentioned in various JP medias and every single time ending up being cut, until 2015 where it was a new species in Jurassic World.
