Cut Content - Dinosaurs

We wanted to keep the Site as complete as it could be, but also try to make the Pages nothing way too big for you readers, with that in mind, two categories of Cut Content were moved as their own Pages on the Site. Both for size design and due these two topics being a Major part of Cut Features.

Down below, you will see all the known Content that was scrapped, cut, or modified related to the Game's Dinosaurs.

It's important that "Cut Content - Dinosaurs" isn't confused with "Cut Content - Dinosaur Species". We separated the Dinosaur Related Content into a section, and the actual Cut Dinosaurs in to another!

Bear in mind, some Images of the Cut Features are presented in Galleries, click on them to zoom in and read more in detail about each.

Baby Dinosaurs & Growth

Perhaps the second most wanted Feature that was Cut from the Dinosaurs, Babies and Growth were going to make their debut in JPOG alongside Breeding. But were sadly cut out on Concept Stages due Time Constrains. They were first mentioned on the Gamasutra's Interview.

Breeding

Breeding goes as the most wanted Feature in Jurassic Park Building Games, but sadly it never saw the light of day on JPOG. It was directly connected to the Sexual Dimorphism and the Babies.

Sexual Dimorphism

Sexual Dimorphism was a major thing earlier in Development, with various Dinosaurs having alternative Color Schemes likely to represent specific Genders. Many examples can be seen throughout the Dinosaurs Section of the Site, but the main example being the Velociraptors in the Intro of the Game.

Enrichment Items

Two Enrichment Items were planned for JPOG, Fun Ball and Chew Toys. For Herbivores and Carnivores, respectively.

These Items played a vital role with the "Fun Lovers" type of Visitor, it's exactly why it existed in the first place, to please these Visitors, you needed those Items.

Pterosaurs & Aquatics

Mentioned on Gamasutra's Interview, Pterosaurs and Aquatic Reptiles such as Pteranodon, Mosasaurus and possibly others, were originally planned to go on JPOG as an Expansion on post-release. They were sadly scrapped early on Concept Stages.

Behavioral Serums

Mentioned on the Dinosaurs Page of our Site, the Behavioral Serums would be used by Dino-Vets and give specific Behavior changes into the Dinosaurs, such as playfulness, rage, fear, etc.

It's unknown why they were cut but they can still be seen mentioned on the Game Files.

Dinosaur Sample Collecting

Mainly a mechanic focused by Dr. Sattler and the Dino-Vets, Sick or Dead Dinosaurs originally wouldn't have the cause explained, in order to discover that, Vets would need to take samples from the Sick Dinosaur or from the Corpse. After that an Analysis would be made and the Disease would be revealed to the Player.

Disease Analysis

After collecting Samples from a Dinosaur or a Corpse, the Jurassic Park Institute's Labs would start to analyse the Sample collected and try to discover either the cause of Death, or the Disease the Dinosaur has or had. After that, the Disease Vaccine is unlocked to be Researched on the Research Tab.

Triassic & Omnivore Dinos

Found by a single mention for both, Triassic Period and Omnivore Dinosaurs were probably planned for the Game. It's unclear if the Triassic was just a Value added by them for the sake of it, since there's no Triassic Dinosaurs under the 40 Species Roster. But Omnivores could very well be possible like Gallimimus.

Early Dinosaur Designs

Just like we did with the Buildings, we decided to group all the Early Designs of Dinosaurs into one Gallery here.

Despite not having much, it still holds a plenty of early Designs that sadly never made it into the Final Game. We even discuss on the possibility of Sexual Dimorphism on each Species' Page!
